School Daze Week of 9/26/16

Those Autumn Leaves....WOW, has the weather changed! Great weather for football and marching band practices and performances.
This week we will performing at the AHS v. Spaulding home football game. Also, there will be a special treat with the re dedication of the James Sullivan Track.
Wednesday night we will  FINALLY be rehearsing on the stadium field! There is a lot of work and focus to be prepared for the upcoming Salem Band Show.

Speaking of the band show !

The following is a schedule of events for the day regarding the Salem Band Show on Saturday October 8, 2016. If the event is cancelled because of inclement weather (this has happened before) we will be notified by noontime.We will honor the rain date of October 9, 2015 and perform on Sunday.   Sunday’s performances will begin at 2:00 p.m.


NOON                                       BAND/COLORGUARD MEET IN THE MUSIC ROOM

12:30 p.m.-2:40 p.m.                 FIELD REHEARSAL (FINE TUNING)

2:45 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.                CLEAN UP AND PACK EQUIPMENT

3:20 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.                LUNCHEON & RELAXATION

4:00 p.m.– 4:20 p.m.               Band gets dressed in uniforms
                                             Uniform inspection & Load Percussion & Large Instruments in trucks

4:30 p.m.                                 ROLL CALL & BOARD THE BUSSES for Salem

DESTINATION                     Salem High School - Grant Field

6:00 p.m.                                   Salem Band Show begins! 
Please note - I have not received the schedule as to when we will be performing. 

A Salem High School student will be assigned to our band/colorguard to ensure that we can find our seats, the warm-up area, etc. Following our performance, we will pass in review.

The price of admission will be $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for students. Chaperones and staff are free!
The Salem Band Parent Association will have a concession stand - bring money :-)
To close out the evening, participation awards will be presented to the Drum Majors.

All students will be coming back to AHS on the buses.  E T A 11:00 p.m.

Final Reminder: This is a scheduled non-district event.  THIS will be included as a performance grade- besides this is a GREAT time for everyone and a chance for us to “strut our stuff” along with many other high school marching units.

Ok, that's the BIG NEWS for this week! Don't forget to visit the Alvirne High School Friends of Music Facebook page for a lot of "other" information. Oops, one last thought - The Friends of Music General Meeting has been moved to October 13 @ 7:00 p.m. in the music room. Please attend as there is a lot of information especially about Disney and FUNdraising.
