School Daze Week of October 20, 2014

Hi Everyone,

I have just finished typing out handouts that will be given to your student this week. Just in case you do not receive them here is what is on our agenda.

On Monday October 20, 2014 I will be appearing in front of the Hudson School Board seeking approval for the Music Department Trip to New York City April 24-27, 2015. I will be sending a preliminary itinerary and important documents and also will be posting this information.
Remember music department trips are optional!
Here is just a preview: a $150.00 non refundable deposit along with the various forms will need to be returned to my office by Wednesday Nov. 5, 2014. Please remember that you can use pay pal via your charms account. Monies from the trip scholarship account WILL NOT BE USED for the initial non - refundable deposit.

Thursday October 23, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. the Alvirne Jazz Band will be performing at the Crown Plaza in Nashua for the Hudson Grange.  This performance is opened to the public and it's FREE!

Saturday, October 25, 2014  we will have 42 music students heading to Souhegan HS to  audition for the NHMEA Jazz All State Festival which will be held at Pinkerton Academy in February 2015.

Sunday, October 26, 2015 is the 60th Woburn Host Lions Halloween Parade. Students will need to arrive at Alvirne by 9:30 a.m.. PARENTS - MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD EATS A SUBSTANTIAL BREAKFAST - even if they don't want to!
Roll call to busses will be at 10:15 a.m.  departing at 10:30 a.m. for the parade. The staging area for the parade is the parking lot at the Showcase Cinema/Holiday Inn Select Complex, Canal Park Road off Main St. (Rt. 38 at Rt. 95) in Woburn.  The parade ends at Arlington Rd.
I understand that there will be 25 marching units, 90 floats and about 60,000 people on this route.
The parade steps off at 1:00 p.m. SHARP!  Our ETA to Alvirne will be 3:30 p.m.
Please remember that all performances are graded events. Re-read the syllabus if you have forgotten. Any student who does not attend will need to make up this performance within 3 days of the event.

Continuing with our week!

Where has the time gone?  Marching season is coming to a close and it’s time to honor our senior band and colorguard members on  Friday October 31, 2014

I am requesting that all parents of senior band/colorguard members meet in the cafeteria by 5:45 p.m. Mr. Mata has graciously offered to take pictures that evening. Afterwards you and your senior band or colorguard member will go to the football field where introductions will be made beginning at 6:20 p.m. If there should be a time an/or place change your senior band or colorguard member will be notified and the information will be on the web site and FACEBOOK!

In an additional post  there is a senior night information sheet. Please fill this out and have your senior band/colorguard student return the information to me by Tuesday October 28, 2014
FYI - I have also USPS this information in the mail as I need to keep Mrs. B working :-)

Senior Parent Information

Again, please look for USPS information as well as your student communicating with you the information for these up and coming performances.

Finally,I am trying something new call Edmoto, whereby students can receive their assignments. Supposedly, it's easier for me than using EDLINE, we shall see :-)
I'll give it a few months and if I don't like it - YOU GUESSED It!

Have a wonderful week.
Mr. B
