School Daze Week of 10/21/13

Can you believe it !   Our football season performance has come to a close. Yes, Friday night October 18, 2013 was the last half time show performance of the Alvirne High School Bronco Marching Band and Colorguard.  It was also a special evening as we celebrated senior night with an additional 60 + 8th grade band students from Hudson Memorial Middle School.
A final CONGRATULATIONS to our senior band and colorguard students; it was the most unusual senior night and last game that’s all I say…time to move on.  FOM parents, pit crew, uniform committee, my staff ‘Thank You” for all you did this past season- I truly appreciate your time, effort and dedication to our student musicians and performers.
There are no practice logs due for the week of 10/14-10/20.    Practice logs will resume this week 10/21/13 as we begin Concert Season.  Speaking of which, tomorrow (Monday 10/21) we will view the last marching show then move right into concert mode. Seating, Circle of 4ths, Scales, Paper Pianos for upcoming interval work, rhythm sight reading and a whole lot more will be included in this week’s lessons.

A quick reminder that this Saturday (October 26) is the NHMEA Jazz All State Auditions at Souhegan HS. Students who are participating MUST BE AT ALVIRNE no later than 7:15 a.m. Detailed information will be handed out during Jazz, B Naturals and Treble Choir. To those 42 students who are auditioning I wish you the best – focus your practice this week to the Jazz Etude, Ballad, and Sight Reading.

This Saturday October 26 is also a special day at Alvirne as the Friends of Music will be hosting it’s annual craft fair. This  is a great time to stop by and support AHS-FOM and our student musicians by visiting and purchasing those special and sometime unique gifts for the upcoming holidays.

Students who applied for TRI M, results will be posted next Monday October 28 in the music room.

Please make the necessary adjustments to your Google Calendars or if you are like me your “Month at a Glance” Mead Calendar. I do use my I phone and Google Calendar as well but I still like the old fashion paper and pencil method too!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week and enjoy the beauty of the New England Fall weather!
