School Daze Week of November 12

I hope during this Veterans Day weekend that you had a chance to thank a veteran. If it wasn't for the dedication of these fine men and women who sacrifce not only their time but also their families I wouldn't be writing a blog and you wouldn't be reading it!   I would like to publicly thank my  father (posthumously) for his service in WWII on both fronts and my brother's service to our country during those dark days called the Vietnam Era.  Again, thank you to all our Veterans- Men and Women!

The first quarter is over and some band students are not doing as well as they should be  -WHY? two words PRACTICE LOGS.  There is no make up for missed practice logs but there are many opportunities to bring those grades back up! Practice logs for 11-12-12 to 11-18-12 are posted please remind your students to download these logs, fill them in and hand them in.

November 23 - Hudson Welcomes Santa Claus and Tree Lighting (optional)

The band will play at this annual event on the Hudson Common. This is not a required performance (volunteers only). Wear warm clothing and arrive at the town common by 3:30 p.m. Newbies - This is a lot of fun especially if it snows. The performance is usually over by 4:10 p.m. as Santa lights the commons to the mellifluous sounds of "Hear Comes Santa Claus!". Alumni, you are more than welcomed. Come by to celebrate the beginning of the 2012 Holiday Season Bronco style!  Students will earn EXTRA credit to help if they have faltering grades.

Beginning this week there will be various postings - please hold off on your BLACK FRIDAY purchases of DVD,s Books, CD's, Nook etc.

Pie Deliveres are this Thursday November 15.

How are those calendar sales coming?  Remember, this is a 31 day scratch ticket. You can win more than once in those 31 days. If you will not be selling these calendars or giving them out as gifts during the holiday season, please have your student return them as I have students and parents asking for more. Remember, you don't have to be present to win and anyone in the country or WORLD can win! I  said WORLD because my son Jeff and his fiance Nicole will be receiving them as stocking stuffers. They live in Munich, Germany :-)

Leaf raking is this Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 17 &  18). Again,  this is a great way for your child to earn money for their trip scholarship accounts. Some students have told me that they are receiving Trip Scholarship Account statements and are not attending this year's trip. Please understand that these trip scholarship accounts stay with your student for their entire time they are involved in the band or choir programs. 2014 is the Disney year and though your child may not be going on the Philadelphia trip this year, I might suggest that you do not wait to start adding monies to their trip scholarship accounts.

Mark your calendar for December 11 - Instrumental  Holiday Concet and December 12 the Chorus Holiday Concert.
More information will be forthcoming.

Have a wonderful week, thank you for reading.
