All About Band (Part 9)

The 2012 Band Camp is over - I hope you have had a chance to view the many pictures that are on picasa. This year, our theme is a Salute to the Disco Era. The band and colorguard's half time show performance will feature,  Stayin' Alive (Bee Gees), Turn The Beat Around (Gloria Estefan) and Disco Inferno
(The Trammps). Everyone did an exceptional job during band camp and again the pictures are worth more than any blog I could write.

Saturday (August18) the band and colorguard performed at the annual Londonderry Old Home Day's Parade. Mr. Mata gave me a CD of great pictures that I will forward to Mr. Kraemer for uploading.

Tomorrow is our refresher day (8a.m.-noon). The band and colorgaurd will run through (ad nauseum) the marching show in preparation for our first performance on Friday August 31 when AHS v. North at Alvirne.

Below is the information for our next parade.

August 25 (Saturday) ALLENSTOWN OLD HOME DAYS PARADE

The following is information regarding the Allenstown Parade August 25, 2012
  • Arrive at AHS 7:15 a.m.
  • Band uniform inspection, warm up and last minute details
  • Board busses (8:00 a.m.)
  • Arrive at Rite Aid Pharmacy (9:00 a.m.)
  • Step off for parade (10:00 a.m.)
  • Return to AHS (12:30 p.m.)

Parades monies are used to help defray the cost of many things when it comes to running a marching band program.  Band camp expenses, our performance at the Salem Band Show, band trips, (just to name a few).     Attendance is very important to help put our best foot forward (no pun intended) as a premiere band program.

I also give a grade credit, so when school starts you will have grades “in the bank” for those times when your grades may not be doing well in band.
