Use your favorite magnet to post on your refrigerator – do not let your dog close to the information)

July 13, 2011

Dear, Band, Colorguard Students and PARENTS (YES, share this with your folks!)

I am sitting in my office and looking at the date in disbelief –YES, in a month from now we will begin band camp- learning the music and motion to our show for marching year # 13
Enclosed is final information for Band Camp the Londonderry and Allenstown Parades.
The following information is very important regarding parades and band camp.
Remember to get your permission slip/health form to me by July 20, 2011. Drop them off in the mail or by hand, bring them to an “Optional” Wednesday night rehearsal, or uniform fitting. Regarding the divisi parts: Freshman/Sophomore (play the bottom notes). Junior/Seniors (play the top notes). Of course, everything is subject to change – Bastien’s Rule :-)

BAND CAMP NEWS!

All MUSIC NEEDS TO BE WELL ON IT’S WAY TO BEING MEMORIZED before you arrive for band camp!
Band camp is at Alvirne High School August 15-19, 2011 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
PLEASE, dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather – Hats and Suntan lotion are a must! SNEAKERS NOT SANDALS for safety and maneuverability. If you forget your sneakers you will be given a pair of DINKLES to wear – if you have no socks, OH WELL! Blister time!
YES, band camp is physical, hot, tiring, annoying, boring, and fun – don’t whine, deal with it – start yourself on a walking regime to “get in shape”. Eat a good breakfast and HYDRATE!
I have zero tolerance for students who are not prepared to work and have fun!
Remember, I’m old and I’m out there with you as well :-)
We will supply dot books (show coordinates) and string – you need to bring a # 2 pencil (because it’s the number 1 pencil in the country), your music must have the measures numbered. The more preparation you do the quicker we learn the show and the more time we have for FUN STUFF !
Students will need to supply their own brown bag lunch; as of this writing FOM is looking into some alternatives as well. As per usual FOM will supply beverage (water, water and more water) ABSOLUTELY NO SODA and/or ENERGY DRINKS.
We will have our traditional “March Off” competition with the MEGA TROPHY – “The winner gets to throw a pie in Mr. Bastien’s face – seniors, this is your chance :-)

Please fill out all necessary forms the uniform and accessory order form, as well as the uniform agreement before you arrive for your fitting (general information and instrument related categories) – FOM volunteers will take care of the uniform and shoe information.
PARENTS – BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK!
Let’s see – did I forget anything else?!?
Enjoy, the rest of the summer

Parades monies are used to help defray the cost of many things when it comes to running a marching band program. Band camp expenses, our performances at Gillette Stadium, Salem Band Show, band trips, (just to name a few). Attendance is very important to help put our best foot forward (no pun intended) as a premiere band program.

I will also give a grade credit, so when school starts you will have grades “in the bank” for those times when your grades may not be doing well in band 

REMEMBER: ahsmusic.org is your friend visit this site often for schedule updates and “other stuff”.

Musically Yours,

Mr. Bastien
