What is Scrip? - Our program utilizes " Scrip" (a Latin term that means anything used instead of money). The program is simple. UnitedScrip purchases gift cards and certificates, in large quantities from National and Local Retailers. Your organizations members order and purchase these gift cards and certificates from your Scrip program paying face value for the scrip. Please understand that these are the exact gift cards and certificates that you or your members would purchase when you walk into your favorite grocery store, restaurant, department, specialty or general retailer and purchase gift cards to give to family members, loved ones or friends.

Purchase Hannaford gift cards through Friends of Music
The FOM will be pre-ordering gift cards to HANNAFORD SUPERMARKETS. If you are interested in purchasing any we will need a weekly $$ commitment as well as payment when we place the order. The percentage back from Hannaford will be 5%. Of that 5% profit, your student will receive 1/2 of that that will go directly into his/her trip scholarship fund. The other half will go into the general music fund. Using the program for your weekly spending is an excellent way to save, and more importantly, it’s free money! For example: A parent that commits to purchasing $200 per week in gift cards will gain $260.00 per year in their student’s trip scholarship fund. The following information is broken out to weekly and monthly potential savings that your student can earn. Please review the information and consider purchasing gift cards from FOM.
WEEKLY:
$100.00 weekly family commitment = $130.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $130.00 going towards the general music fund.
$200.00 weekly family commitment = $260.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $260.00 going towards the general music fund.
$300.00 weekly family commitment = $390.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $390.00 going towards the general music fund.
$400.00 weekly family commitment = $520.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $520.00 going towards the general music fund.
$500.00 weekly family commitment = $650.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $650.00 going towards the general music fund.
A family commitment could be you purchasing $100, and 3 neighbors purchasing $100 as well; bringing the total to $300 per week. With that weekly commitment of $300 you will have put $390.00 per year directly in your student’s trip scholarship fund. Money that you are spending in groceries now becomes your savings.
MONTHLY:
$100.00 monthly family commitment = $30.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $30.00 going towards the general music fund.
$200.00 monthly family commitment = $60.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $60.00 going towards the general music fund.
$300.00 monthly family commitment = $90.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $90.00 going towards the general music fund.
$400.00 monthly family commitment = $120.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $120.00 going towards the general music fund.
$500.00 monthly family commitment = $150.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $150.00 going towards the general music fund.
$600.00 monthly family commitment = $180.00 per year towards your trip scholarship fund, and $180.00 going towards the general music fund.

Buy Gift Cards through AHS Music!
We all know how people love to receive gift cards, and they're easy for us to shop for, except, of
course, the time it takes to go to the store. With this fundraiser, you won't even have to do that. National
companies have agreed to donate a percentage of each gift card to a chosen charity ... in our case, the Alvirne High School Music program. The b
eauty of it is, it won't cost you any more than you would have paid. For example, if you buy a $25 gift card to Applebees, it costs you $25 and your gift recipient gets to spend $25. (No shipping costs to get the card to you, even.) However, Applebees will donate 8% to AHS Music. And a ton of national companies are part of this. Just about any store you'd want to buy a gift certificate from is included.
AHS Music will be putting in an order for gift cards through this program EACH MONTH, so if you'd really like to help AHS Music, there are a few things you can do in the coming months:
- Buy the gas cards and purchase all of your gas with gift cards.
- Pre-buy your Dunkin' or Starbucks card and you'll never be short for cash when you need a caffeine fix.
- If you have a big home purchase coming up, buy the Home Depot or Lowe's gift cards and use them to make your big purchases.
- Buy yourself a gift card to your favorite restaurant, since you'll probably be going there at some point.
- Even grocery stores are on the list!
All of those little percentages add up, so the more you can do, the better. And it won't cost you any more than you're already paying for these services.

What do I have to do?
The first step is to make sure your weekly spending pattern involves UnitedScrip vendors! (See vendor list). Then, place your scrip order to include your grocery, gas, clothing, dining out, and travel needs in anticipation of your weekly spending habits. If you maximize your use of certificates, your group will earn maximum profits!!
How does my group make money?
Your group places one large order with UnitedScrip each week. Your group pays UnitedScrip the discounted amount for the certificates. You pay your group the face value for the certificates. Your group keeps the difference from the discounted amount, and the face value amount, as profit.
When does my group see a profit?
Your group makes profit from the very first order! There is no waiting. Your group will have extra money to spend the first week, and you earned this money for the group, even though you have not spent one penny more than usual!
How much can my group earn?
There is no limit on what you can earn! The amount of profit your group realizes from this program depends on the number of families who are willing to focus their spending habits.
How do I pay for my certificates?
Just send a check with your order form for the entire amount made out to AHS-FOM.
How do I place my order?
Just send the order form back in your child's Scrip Envelope to the classroom. We will pick them up there.
How do I pick up my certificates?
Certificates will be available for pick-up at Alvirne or brought home by your child.
Are certificates good at all locations?
UnitedScrip certificates are good nationally, at all locations.
Do the stores give change?
Debit cards hold the balance until you use it again.
Do the certificates expire?
Certificates usually have a 1 -2 year expiration date, if any.
